Does anyone else feel sorry for Yaya Sanogo?
It’s been a difficult season for the French striker with his loan move to Charlton following a hugely disappointing five months at Ajax.
In his time in Holland, Sanogo made just four appearances, failing to score a single goal and largely looking out of place in Frank de Boer’s team.
And there’s no guarantee he’ll fare better at Charlton after that season-long loan at Ajax was cancelled early for him to join the English Championship side until the end of the campaign.
Sanogo – who has 30 Arsenal appearances to his name – has yet to play for the Addicks, but given his experience you’d expect to cope well in the second-tier.
He appears excited to be with Charlton, sharing posts about the club on his social media accounts.
But this one on Sanogo’s Facebook page got a rather harsh comment from an Arsenal fan who never wants to see him back at the club.
Supporter Tahsin Gooner wrote: “You’re shite mate. You should never be seen near the Emirates. Stay where you are now. How you made it as a footballer, I’ll never know.”
That got a surprisingly calm reaction from Sanogo, with the Frenchman simply thanking him for his comment by writing: “Thanks, I appreciate Tahsin Gooner.”
Players would usually ignore the message or hit back with some abuse of their own, but Sanogo’s response make us feel pretty sorry for him considering he’s done nothing to Arsenal fans to deserve the stick.
