Conor McGregor has come out swinging in the aftermath of his defeat at UFC196 to Nate Diaz.
The Irish superstar’s career hit a speed bump in Las Vegas as Diaz’s deadly choke hold forced McGregor to tap out 4:12 into the second round of the main event.
Following his historic win over Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds at UFC194 in December, the Notorious was stepping up a whopping 25lbs to originally take on Rafael Dos Anjos, before the Brazilian broke his foot and was replaced by Diaz at 10 days’ notice.
As we told you earlier today, Aldo put out a congratulatory tweet mocking McGregor not long after his defeat to Diaz, something that McGregor wasn’t best pleased with.
And now, in an emotional Instagram statement, McGregor has called out Aldo, and Dos Anjos, whilst thanking the legions of Irish fans who travelled all the way to America to support him.
The full statement reads: “I stormed in and put it all on the line. I took a shot and missed.
“I will never apologize for taking a shot. Shit happens. I’ll take this loss like a man. I will not shy away from it. I will not change who I am. If another champion goes up 2 weights let me know.
“If your tired of me talking money, take a nap.
“I’ll still be here when you wake up with the highest PPV and the gate. Still talking multi 7’s.
“Thank you to the true support and fuck the hate that came out of the woodwork. I love it all. Its still steak for breakfast.
“I’ve been here many times in my life in some form or another. I’ll eat it all and come back stronger.
Aldo you are a pussy. Dos anjos you are a pussy.
“When the history books are written, I showed up. You showed up on Twitter.
“To the fans! Never ever shy away from challenges. Never run from adversity. Face yourself head on.
“Nate I will see you again.”
Strong words. For what it’s worth, we still have faith in Conor – he’ll be back stronger.
