Eric Cantona Reveals His Dream XI… Picks Only Two Manchester United Players

Eric Cantona has always been a polarising character, a player who refused to follow the crowd – a true individual.

That’s why Manchester United fans adored him.

But Cantona appeared to land a massive blow to the club today, by picking just two United player in his all-time Dream XI.

The Frenchman compiled his list for football magazine Four Four Two, with Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff and Franz Beckenbauer all included.

However, there was an alarming lack of United players in the complete team, with Cantona strangely picking Rene Higuita instead of Peter Schmeichel.

And the Great Dane wasn’t the only United legend who Cantona left out in the cold, with Ryan Giggs, Denis Irwin, Steve Bruce and Gary Neville all missing.

Mario Kempes, Garrincha and Carlos Valderrama all made the team as Cantona chose to ignore today’s superstars in favour of a more experienced and retro squad.

Should Cantona have picked more Manchester United players?

If so, who would you have instead?
