The German national side faces a sweat over the fitness of Bastian Schweinsteiger for this summer’s European Championships in France.
The Manchester United midfielder was forced to withdraw from this week’s international duty with a knee injury, meaning he missed Saturday night’s 3-2 defeat to England.
As reported on the German football official website, Schweinsteiger has a “partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee”.
The World Cup winner is now expected to miss the rest of the season for the Old Trafford side as he continues his rehabilitation.
And the former Bayern Munich star was spotted in Florida this weekend, taking in some of the tennis action at the Miami Open.
Schweinsteiger was of course there to watch women’s tennis star and girlfriend Ana Ivanovic in action at the tournament.
What is perhaps a worrying site for United and Germany fans is that Schweinsteiger was properly strapped up in a knee brace for protection.
