Liverpool supporters are understandably excited at the prospect of signing Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze.
The German World Cup winner hasn’t played for his club since October, first because of injury and now because they’re unwilling to experiment apparently.
His lack of regular games at Bayern has led to reports that he could leave this summer and a reunion with former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp might be on the cards.
This could be PR at work after Liverpool’s disappointing penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final at the weekend.
But it also makes sense given Klopp’s need for reinforcements and the best form of Gotze’s life coming under the flamboyant German boss.
And, as you’d expect, the reaction has been largely positive from fans willing to dream that the man who fired Germany to the 2014 World Cup wants to come to Anfield.
