Bastian Schweinsteiger looks like he could miss the rest of this season after picking up another knee injury – and Manchester United fans aren’t happy.
The midfielder has only returned to action at the start of March after injuring his knee in an FA Cup tie against Sheffield United in January.
He’d made four substitute appearances since returning, the latest of which came in the weekend 1-0 derby win over Manchester City.
But Schweinsteiger looks set to spend more time on the sidelines after Germany confirmed he’s suffered a partial tear in the ligament of his right knee.
That means he should miss a considerable chunk of game time as the season hurtles towards its end and it raises doubts over whether or not he’ll be fit enough to join up with the national team for Euro 2016 in the summer.
It’s been an injury-laden first season at United for Schweinsteiger and supporters are disappointed to see him pick up another injury so soon after recovering from one.
Here, we’ve rounded up the initial reaction on Twitter:
Manchester United fans – how big a miss will Schweinsteiger be?
