Mesut Ozil Address Media Reports He Wants to Leave and Backs Arsene Wenger

Mesut Ozil has addressed media reports that he wants to leave Arsenal and given his backing to Arsene Wenger.

The Sun reported yesterday that the German will quit the Emirates if Wenger continues to be manager of the club.

But Ozil obviously doesn’t think that way – taking to Twitter to insist that the French boss is the reason he signed for Arsenal and that hasn’t changed despite their difficult run of results over the last month:

Arsenal were in the hunt for Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League glory at the start of February, but they’ve had a horrid run of results to leave them out of contention for all three.

Defeats to Manchester United and Swansea as well as a draw with Tottenham have seen them fall 11 points behind league leaders Leicester, while Barcelona beat them 5-1 on aggregate in the last 16 of the Champions League.

As for the FA Cup, they blew the chance to win their third on the bounce with a shock 2-1 home defeat to Watford in the quarter-finals.

But worries over Ozil leaving the club because of their failure this season look unfounded with his public support of Wenger.
