Middle Tennessee State Shocks Michigan State, Destroys Brackets

They may not be a Cinderella story quite yet, but the statistics say that the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders’ upset of the No. 2 seed Michigan State Spartans, a team many had winning the NCAA title, is the biggest upset in the history of the tournament.

In a 90-81 stunner, Middle Tennessee State busted almost every bracket submitted via the Internet, with Yahoo! Sports reporting that 98.8% of the brackets having Michigan State as the winners.

Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo was very despondent and nearly in tears at his post-game press conference, stating: “I don’t care about next year, and I don’t care about tomorrow. That’s the problem, it’s always what’s next. There’s three guys (his players joining him on the media dais) here who gave me every single [thing] they had.”

MTSU is scheduled to play Syracuse on Sunday in St. Louis, where they’ll continue to hopefully continue their giant-killer status and make a real Cinderella run into the Sweet Sixteen.
