Nigeria Fans Are Furious With Efe Ambrose Over His Latest International Performance

There are three things certain in life: death, taxes and Efe Ambrose making a horrendous error when it hurts the most.

Without being unkind to the big Celtic defender, Hoops fans have become accustomed to Ambrose, for want of a better phrase, selling the jersey and costing the club severely.

Over the past few years, big matches against the likes of Juventus, Fenerbahce and this season’s League Cup semi-final against Ross County have all seen poor, old Efe with his head buried in his hands.

And you probably won’t be surprised to know that Ambrose has been up to his old tricks again tonight, only this time his sloppy performance came in a crucial match for his country Nigeria.

Playing away to Eygpt in a vital African Cup of Nations qualifier, Nigeria needed to avoid defeat to stand any realistic chance of making the competition in Gabon next year.

But Ambrose put in a typically poor display, and was adjudged to be at fault for Ramadan Sobhy’s 65th minute winner.

The match finished 1-0 to Egypt and Ambrose, once again, received the ire of his own supporters:
