Peter Schmeichel a Proud Dad as Kasper Schmeichel Wins Danish Player of the Year

Peter Schmeichel a Proud Dad as Kasper Schmeichel Wins Danish Player of the Year

Leicester City have formed the most unlikely of title challenges this season, with the Foxes currently five points ahead of second placed Tottenham.

And while Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy have earned most of the plaudits, a special nod must be aimed in the direction of Leicester’s faultless goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel.

Schmeichel has been sensational this season with a stubborn defence of Robert Huth and Wes Morgan sat in front of him.

In fact, the 29-year-old has been so impressive that he has just been announced as the winner of Danish Player of the Year award.

And first in line to congratulate Schmeichel was his father, Peter, who wasn’t too shabby between the sticks either back in the day…

The Manchester United legend was then Tweeted by another great goalkeeper, Edwin van der Saar.

And Van der Saar, who also kept goal at Old Trafford, is hoping this won’t be the only trophy Kasper will win this season, hinting that he wants Leicester to win the Premier League:
