Erik Sviatchenko escaped Scotland v Denmark tonight with his legs intact – but we’re amazed that he didn’t pick up a serious injury after being on the receiving end of a thunderous Liam Bridcutt tackle.
It was a friendly between the two countries who won’t be in France in the summer after failing to qualify for Euro 2016.
However, Bridcutt’s tackle suggested it was anything but – leading to furious protests from the Denmark players and the Leeds United midfielder picking up a booking.
The tackle came towards the end of the 1-0 victory for Scotland and got multiple replays on Sky Sports’ coverage of the game:
As you can expect, there were a lot of Celtic fans watching on – and they were not happy with the challenge.
Sviatchenko has been impressive since moving from Midtjylland in January and looks like he could be a regular for Ronny Deila in the future.
Here’s just a little bit of the reaction on Twitter:
What was your view on Bridcutt’s tackle? Did he deserve a red?
