Twitter Has a Romelu Lukaku Love-in After Belgian Breaks Everton Goal-Scoring Record

Twitter Has a Romelu Lukaku Love-in After Belgian Breaks Everton Goal-Scoring Record

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku made history tonight as he scored during the Toffees 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.

The Belgian netted his 17th Premier League strike of the season against Remi Garde’s floundering side, making him the club’s record goalscorer in one league campaign.

Here’s the goal which saw Lukaku break the record:

And while it wasn’t exactly a surprise that the former Chelsea striker scored against the worst team in the division, this didn’t stop Twitter from having a Lukaku love-in.

Social media heaped praise on the 22-year-old, with some arguing he could become an Everton legend considering his miraculous goal-scoring record despite his age.

Lukaku was joined on the scoresheet by former Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon and defender Funes Mori, before Rudi Gestede clinched a consolation 10 minutes from full-time.

The result means Everton have won three of their last five games, an impressive statistic they will try to surpass when they host West Ham on Saturday.

And if Lukaku can find the net against the Hammers, you can be sure there will be plenty more Lukaku-love to look forward to…
