Gerard Deulofeu is in serious danger of becoming a great player in training rather than games.
The Everton winger has had a stop start season for his club side this campaign, being rotated in and out of the team by manager Roberto Martinez.
He’s made 29 appearances for the Toffees, but 12 have came from the bench and he’s had to fight with Aaron Lennon for a place on the right-hand side of midfield.
So it’s been difficult to see him impress on a consistent basis this season.
Deulofeu made headlines on this website earlier in the week after scoring a great training ground goal while on international duty with the Spain Under-21s.
And he’s followed it up with another stunning effort, bagging a free-kick during a practice session:

If he doesn’t get back to playing regularly at Everton, Deulofeu is in danger of becoming a talent limited just to training – and at the age of 22, that’s not what he should be aiming to do.
He could get his first chance to stake a claim to play in the run-in when Everton restart the league campaign with a trip to Old Trafford to play Manchester United on Sunday.
