Celtic will offer Efe Ambrose a new three-year deal as reward for his strong form for the club.
The Nigerian defender isn’t a favourite among some fans following a number of poor displays in Ronny Deila’s team.
But it appears the Hoops manager and hierarchy don’t agree, opting to offer Ambrose a three-year extension with a reported £15,000 per week wage.
We can exclusively reveal that Deila has pushed hard to tie down the centre back following injury problems for both Charlie Mulgrew and Jozo Simunovic this season.
However, it’s unclear if Ambrose will definitely sign it as he’s believed to be considering his options after being used on a rotational basis this campaign.
The defender signed for Celtic from Ashdod in 2012 and earned a four-year extension in 2013 after impressing in his first season at the club.
But his existing deal expires at the end of next season and the Hoops aren’t wasting any time in tying him down on a new contract.
UPDATE: This is all part of our April Fools’ fun, folks. Don’t worry, Celtic fans – Ambrose isn’t getting a new deal as far as we’re aware!
