The season is fast drawing to it’s conclusion and for all of us football fans, that brings the excitement of titles, play-offs and relegation scraps.
Leicester City could be crowned Premier League Champions this weekend.. incredible to think. And, in less incredible news, Celtic could also clinch five-in-a-row.
With drama happening up and down the country at both ends of the league tables, I have went for a treble this week which contains two of the teams battling for their life at the foot of the Premier League.
Newcastle at evens are first up, and after an impressive 3-0 home win over Swansea and back-to-back draws with Man City and Liverpool, there is a real belief from the geordies that their side can avoid the drop.
Their fortunes have turned under Spaniard Rafa Benitez, who’s side face Crystal Palace this weekend before a trip to all ready relegated Aston Villa, the ground they faced relegation on only a few years ago.
Rafa will be confident of picking up six points from these two outings after recent showings and at even money, the Toon look good value to pick apart a Palace side, who may already have one eye on the FA Cup Final.
Next up Sunderland. They like their rivals are desperate to pick up points. A 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the Stadium Light lifted them to a position of safety on goal difference and with a game in hand over Newcastle.
They will want to get points on the board fast. They travel to the Brittania to face an already safe Stoke, who have are a tough outfit to beat at home.
Sam Allardyce sets his stall out not to lose and it would not surprise me if this one ends in another draw for the Black Cats, which is available to 21/10.
Last up are Everton and Bournemouth. Both sides have nothing much to play for apart from moving up as high as possible in the table, with extra prize money on offer the higher a position you finish.
Eddie Howe will be delighted with how the Cherries have performed in their debut Premier League campaign, However, it’s been a season of mainly downs for Roberto Martinez, who is under pressure at the Toffees.
Two domestic cup semi-final defeats have hit them hard this season, and for a team who should be challenging for the European spots, they see themselves languishing in 11th spot.
Martinez could be doing with a win to ease the pressure on himself, however this one looks like a share of the spoils and goals. The draw at Goodison is available at 13/5.
The treble pays out at odds of 21.32/1 with Ladbrokes and for a £5 bet returns £111.60 – a nice wee sum to spend over the bank holiday weekend.
