The former Everton and Manchester United boss is currently out of work after leaving Real Sociedad in November last year.
The speculation surrounding the Celtic job has started as a result of Ronny Deila’s summer exit from Parkhead being confirmed by the club yesterday.
It was ideal timing for Sky Sports as they had Moyes on their coverage of Liverpool v Everton last night and the Scot was quizzed about the bookmakers making him odds-on favourite to replace the Norwegian.
Unfortunately for any Celtic fans who want him in, Moyes was coy about the link and didn’t sound too fussed about the prospect of taking over their club.
When asked by Sky Sports host Ed Chamberlain about the speculation, Moyes answered:
That’s hardly the talk of a man who looks set to get the job or is interested in it.
Contrast that with Neil Lennon, who yesterday threw his hat into the ring less than an hour after Deila’s exit was revealed.
It doesn’t look like Moyes will reach out to Celtic over the job and instead the contact will need to come from club chief executive Peter Lawwell and the board.
