Louis van Gaal Calls Everton’s Romelu Lukaku a ‘Candidate’ For Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has dropped a big hint that he could launch a summer transfer bid for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

United host Lukaku’s Everton at Old Trafford this afternoon, with the club looking to stay in contention for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Lukaku has been in outstanding form for an under performing Toffees side this season, scoring 25 goals in all competitions, leading to speculation that he could be tempted by a big-money move to Old Trafford in the summer.

And now van Gaal appears to have confirmed that the towering Belgian could feature on his transfer list once the season ends.

Speaking via the Manchester Evening News ahead of today’s clash, van Gaal said: “He (Lukaku) is very interesting.

“When you score a lot of goals, you are always a potential candidate for clubs. Football is like that.

“When you look at scoring goals and making assists, he (Lukaku) does that at the highest level in the Premier League.

“But I think every club in the world is comparing strikers.”

What do you think about the prospect of the former Chelsea man moving to United? Would it be a good move? And will van Gaal even be around to sanction such a move in the summer?
