Mark McGhee admits his decision to ignore Ronny Deila’s handshake was a misunderstanding as he believed the Celtic manager had blanked him earlier in the game.
The Motherwell sparked a moment of controversy at the end of the Hoops’ 2-1 victory at Fir Park when he shunned the Norwegian’s hand.
Deila appeared confused as to why McGhee chose to ignore him, and everyone watching the incident was left wondering why it happened.
But the Steelmen boss has now admitted that it was a misunderstanding, per BBC Scotland’s Chris McLaughlin on Twitter:
Mark McGhee says he refused to shake Ronny Deila's hand at end as he thought he'd 'blanked' him earlier. Now admits was a misunderstanding.

McGhee would have felt disappointed that his in-form side lost out to Celtic in a tight Scottish Premiership clash.
After seeing a Leigh Griffiths penalty go by the post in the first-half, Motherwell certainly had opportunities in the game despite seeing the Hoops frontman hit two for the visitors.
His second came courtesy of an awful mistake by goalkeeper Connor Ripley in the second-half and effectively handed Celtic the victory.
