Masters 2016 Marks the Start of a Tom Watson and Lil Wayne Bromance

We expected many things at the 2016 Masters – but a Tom Watson and Lil Wayne bromance wasn’t one of them.

Rory McIlroy belting drives about 1000 yards and Jordan Spieth leading the way were both expected outcomes before the tournament started on Thursday.

The grass being ridiculously green was another one.

But arguably the most entertaining thing to come out of the first major of the golf season is the Twitter love-in between one of the sport’s greatest and one of the biggest hip hop stars on the planet.

It all started on Friday as Weezy showed his support for Watson as he played his final ever round at Augusta.

Lil Wayne wrote on Twitter that he was giving the golf legend a standing ovation as he watched on in his living room:

That tweet gained quite a bit of traction, being retweeted over 4,500 times and liked over 8,500 times.

And it obviously caught the attention of Watson, who insisted he’ll return the standing ovation at one Lil Wayne’s upcoming shows:

That’s a story we weren’t expecting to write going into the Masters this weekend.

Now, all that’s left to see is Watson and Lil Wayne to combine as playing partners in a celebrity golf day in the future.
