Stirling University defender Danny Ashe definitely won’t score a better goal than this in his football career.
Normally our pages are reserved for those in the professional ranks, but it’s impossible to ignore a 70-yard wonder strike like this.
It came last Saturday as Stirling took on East Kilbride Thistle in the Scottish Lowland League Cup.
With the game level at 1-1 in the second-half, the ball broke to Ashe in his own half and he thundered a quite ridiculous shot up into the sky, over EK goalkeeper Matt McGinley and into the net:

Or was it a clearance? Only Ashe will really know.
Unfortunately for Stirling they were unable to capitalise on the defender’s moment of brilliance, with East Kilbride recovering to win the game 3-2 after extra time.
As for Ashe, his goal will be noticed by fans of Stirling Albion – had a spell with them as a youth and then first team player before leaving to join Stirling University.
