Video: Robinho Hit By Lighter While Taking Corner in South American Cup Match

If you were ever wondering what Robinho was up to these days, well fear not.

The once promising Real Madrid and Manchester City forward is currently playing his football in South America with Ateltico Mineiro in his native Brazil.

The 32-year-old’s latest appearance for the side was marred by ugly scenes during a  clash with Racing Club on Wednesday.

Robinho appeared to be struck by a missile – believed to be a lighter – while trying to take a corner kick in front of opposing fans.

The ex-Brazil international protested to the referee in fear of his safety but was instructed to go ahead and take the set-piece before being clearly hit by the object on his left shoulder.

It’s the second scene of violence between players and opposition fans this week after Malmo’s Tobias Sana was targeted by IFK Gothenburg fans and responded by throwing a corner flag at them.

You can check out the Robinho incident in the video below.
