The weekend has arrived and we all know what that means – It’s time to head down to the bookies and get the bank balance up. Well, hopefully.
First up for me this week is Bournemouth.
The Cherries have had a successful first season in the top flight and with survival virtually secured, they can play with no pressure at bottom club Aston Villa. The Villans days are numbered in the Premier League and Eddie Howe’s men can push them further towards the relegation trap door with a win at Villa Park.
Both sides lost 4-0 in their last outing but Villa have failed to score in any of their last four games. The away side can be backed at 23/20 which looks great value to me.
Next up is Wigan.
The Latics are sitting top of the table above Burton Albion in the battle for the English League One title and can move a step closer to being champions and sealing a return to the Championship with a home win over Coventry.
Gary Caldwell’s men have won their last four matches including a convincing 5-1 win away at Shrewsbury last time out. Coventry are without a win in four but still have a chance of making the end of season play-offs. However, the league leaders look too strong for their opponents and look a top price at 4/6.
Moving north to Scotland now and Dundee United are in desperate need of three points and a home clash with Inverness presents Mixu Paatelainen’s men the opportunity to close the gap on nearest rivals Kilmarnock.
United failed to close the gap to just two points midweek with a 1-0 defeat to Partick.
However, the Tangerines picked up four points from the two games before and will fancy their chances against a Caley side who have only won one of their last seven league outings. The home side are available at 23/20 in a must win match.
This week’s final selection is East Fife at home to Montrose.
Gary Naysmith’s side opened a four point lead at the top of the League Two table last weekend and with only four games remaining, they can move one step closer to the title with a home win.
The leaders are unbeaten in their last five outings, winning four compared to their opponents who have drawn three of their last four games. Nathan Austin will prove a constant threat to the Montrose defence and at 4/9, you can’t see past The Fifers picking up all three points.
The four fold pays 10.13/1 with Ladbrokes.
