The Bolton boxer will face Saul Alvarez in a world title bout in Las Vegas on Saturday and has been busy promoting the fight this week.
De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions is spearheading the fight and, as is the norm, he was speaking at the press conference on Wednesday.
These are always good to watch, with fighters looking to get the mental upper hand before going head-to-head on fight night.
But it was nothing that Khan or Alvarez said that got everyone laughing – it was De La Hoya’s comparison between Khan and fellow underdog Leicester.
There’s not a week passed since Leicester wrapped up the English Premier League title, but the boxing legend was already using them as a storyline to a fight Khan will be hoping to record a shock win in.
Except De La Hoya couldn’t get his facts right, instead insisting Leicester had won the UEFA Cup (remember that?) – much to the amusement of Khan:
Oh, Oscar – if you’re going to pretend you know what’s happening in other sports then at least get your facts right.
And fair play to Khan for not trying to hide his reaction. That made it even funnier.
