With just days to go until the Champions League Final, the mind games are well and truly under way between Real Madrid and city rivals Atletico.
The La Liga giants – who finished second and third behind Barcelona in the title race – will go head-to-head on Saturday night at the San Siro, Milan, in a repeat of the 2014 final.
Madrid have stoked the fire with public concern over the fitness of talisman striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
And now his team-mate Gareth Bale has waded into the psychological battle – claiming NONE of Diego Simeone’s squad could make it into the starting line-up for the Bernabeu side.
The Welsh superstar made the bold claim to Spanish radio’s Cadena COPE.
Bale said: “To me, no Atletico player would feature in Real Madrid’s team.”
Despite finishing two points ahead of Atletico in the table, Zinedine Zidane’s side failed to beat their bitter rivals in the league on both occasions.
Bale netted in the 2014 final which saw Real run out eventual 4-1 winners after extra-time.
And he’s in a confident mood heading to Italy.
He added: “I feel good and I’m really looking forward to Saturday. The team is calm, enjoying training and working hard. We think we can win and we’ll try to lift the Undecima.
“It’s true that I have scored goals in finals, but I don’t know what the secret to it is. In a final everyone looks to give the best of themselves and I hope on Saturday I can get a goal and it’s enough to win the title.”
