Emilio Izaguirre Cries In Front of Celtic Fans After Club Wins League Title

Emilio Izaguirre Cries In Front of Celtic Fans After Club Wins League Title

Celtic clinched their fifth consecutive Scottish title this afternoon, and it all got a bit too much for Emilio Izaguirre.

The Honduran left-back has been a fixture in the Celtic team since arriving during Neill Lennon’s reign in 2010, and won over the club’s fans with his lung-bursting runs and ferocious tackles.

But earlier in this campaign, Izaguirre saw his place in the starting XI taken by the outstanding Kieran Tierney, who has excelled since joining the first-team.

With Izaguirre celebrating his 30th birthday later this week, it is expected that the defender will look to move elsewhere in the summer, rather than spend another season on the bench.

And following today’s 3-2 victory over Aberdeen, the man known effectionately as Izzy joined in the celebrations wholeheartedly – before getting a bit over emotional.

Showing exactly what Celtic and the fans have meant to him over the past six years certainly went down very well on social media:

Celtic play away to St Johnstone on Wednesday, before hosting Motherwell on the final day of the season next Sunday.

Perhaps Izaguirre will get one final swansong in a Hoops shirt between now and then.
