Newcastle have officially been relegated from the Premier League and one player is getting more stick than most.
Sunderland romped to a 3-0 victory over Everton at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night to secure their safety, and send bitter rivals Newcastle and Norwich down to The Championship.
And it’s the one scenario that Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback seriously didn’t want.
The 26-year-old grew up as a Newcastle supporter, but graduated through Sunderland’s youth academy before establishing himself as a first-team star.
But in 2014, once his Sunderland contract had expired, Colback opted to join Newcastle – much to the annoyance of Sunderland supporters.
At the time, the midfielder seemed pretty happy with his choice, and even suggested that the Magpies could challenge to get into the top-four with the help of a few clever additions.
As you’d expect, tonight’s events are pretty much Colback’s worst nightmare. Lets just hope he doesn’t have Twitter:

Spare a thought for Jack Colback. He couldn't break into the England side because he played for Sunderland. Now? pic.twitter.com/LBplYAatAh
