Marco Reus won’t play any part in Euro 2016 – with the disappointing news of his injury being confirmed on his birthday.
The Borussia Dortmund playmaker was included in Joachim Loew’s provisional squad for the tournament in France this summer after having an impressive season for his club.
But he’s not been able to make the 23-man selection, with injury ruling him out of the entire competition:

Loew confirmed the news of his omission this morning, insisting Reus can’t turn when he runs – although it’s unclear to what extent Reus is injured:
Marco Reus “can only walk straight ahead” at the moment according to Löw. Sad for him to miss another tournament due to injury! #BVB

It must be heartbreaking for Reus on two counts – he celebrates his 27th birthday today and this injury is his second to rule him out of a major tournament.
He played no part in Germany’s World Cup win two years ago after picking up a serious ankle knock just weeks before the tournament kicked off.
As you’d expect, plenty of people are feeling sorry for the Borussia Dortmund wideman after his latest setback:
Oh Reus is injured, I see. Who could've seen this coming? Poor guy.

It really stinks for Reus. Great talent who can’t seem to make it internationally now. Same for Bellarabi, who has lost momentum #DFBTeam

Pretty heartbreaking for Reus having missed World Cup through injury. No place in squad behind Podolski. Oh, and it's his birthday!

Germany fans will be disappointed that Reus isn’t involved – as will anyone hoping the Borussia man would be moving to their club this summer.
