In 2009, the player even told Mundo Deportivo via Bleacher Report: “I’ve always been a bit antimadridista and I still am. I have the feeling it’s an arrogant club, and without humility you don’t get anywhere.”

He added, “I’m cleaning my hands with it, I’m a Madridsta and that’s that. He is with my parents now. I don’t walk him anyomore, imagine me calling him Messi in the streets.”
