Isco Can’t Be Seen Walking His Dog Because He Named it After Lionel Messi

Real Madrid midfielder Isco has revealed that he doesn’t walk his dog any more – because his family named him after Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

Isco signed for Real from Malaga in 2013, however before he moved to the Bernabeu, Isco was a well-known Barcelona supporter.

In 2009, the player even told Mundo Deportivo via Bleacher Report: “I’ve always been a bit antimadridista and I still am. I have the feeling it’s an arrogant club, and without humility you don’t get anywhere.”

However, it appears that Isco’s Barceolona-supporting past is coming back to haunt him, as he can no longer be seen in public with his canine pal after it became public knowledge that it was named after Messi.

Speaking to ‘El Hormiguero 3.0’, via Spanish newspaper SPORT, Isco said: “I have to say in my favour that calling the dog Messi was more my brother and dad’s idea than mine.”

He added, “I’m cleaning my hands with it, I’m a Madridsta and that’s that. He is with my parents now. I don’t walk him anyomore, imagine me calling him Messi in the streets.”

Good save by the 24-year-old there.

Although naming his next pup Zizou, Raul or Roberto Carlos may go some way toward making it up to Madrid faithful…
