Sorry Liverpool Fans – Mario Gotze Tells Facebook Followers He’s Staying at Bayern

Liverpool fans could be about to experience a summer setback after the club’s main transfer target Mario Gotze pledging his future to Bayern Munich.

Gotze has been heavily linked with a move to Merseyside and a reunion with former manager Jurgen Klopp after he was left on the bench for most of Bayern’s season.

The German international wasn’t fancied by boss Pep Guardiola and the age of 23, it was perceived that Gotze didn’t want to take the chance that his incoming replacement Carlo Ancelotti would bench him too.

But after months of rumours and speculation, Gotze appears to be willing to fight for his place in Bavaria, after telling his followers on Facebook that he is preparing to work under Ancelotti and ‘a part of Bayern’:

Who knows – perhaps a sizeable offer in the form of a transfer fee and wages could still tempt both Bayern and Gotze into a move, but right now it looks unlikely.

Is this a big blow to Liverpool?
