Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge helped his side blow Villarreal away in the Europa League semi-final on Thursday night – but missed out on the celebrations.
Sturridge was chosen to play from the start against the Spanish side, having been an unused substitute against the La Liga side in last week’s 1-0 defeat.
And he didn’t disappoint the Anfield crowd, after putting in a brilliant performance which was topped off by a crucial goal in the 3-0 victory.
The Reds’ iconic stadium was a jubilant place to be upon full-time, with supporters and the first-team players ecstatic at the prospect of the club’s first European final since 2007.
But poor Daniel was forced to miss all of the post-game shenanigans after he was cruelly called away for a drugs test as he walked down the tunnel.
At least he seemed to take it well:
Hey, he might have missed a glass of champagne or two, but what a singing voice.
