Marek Hamsik goal against Russia was good – but it gets even better with Alan Partridge commentating on it.
The fictional radio and TV presenter wasn’t really lending his voice to the brilliant goal from the Slovakian playmaker as his country beat the Russians in their second game of Euro 2016.
Instead, funny YouTube channel M12 have followed up their hilarious David Guetta dropping Will Grigg’s on Fire video with the Partridge reaction to Hamsik.
Partridge is the creation of Steve Coogan and has been hugely popular in Britain ever since debuting on BBC Radio 4 in 1991 as part of On The Hour – a spoof of British current affairs.
Since then, he’s become a real favourite on TV through Knowing Me, Knowing You and I’m Alan Partridge before a film about the character was released in 2013.
M12 have spliced some classic Partridge commentary together and dropped it on top of Hamsik’s beautiful opener against Russia this afternoon:
Now that is some goal, but we’d much rather hear Partridge’s reaction to it than Mark Lawrenson’s. Which gets us thinking – why isn’t Partridge commentating on games at Euro 2016? Must do better, BBC.
