England and Russia Warned They Could Be Thrown Out of Euro 2016 Over Violence

England and Russia have been warned by UEFA that they could be thrown out of Euro 2016 if there is further violence involving their fans.

The start of the tournament has been overshadowed by vicious clashes between English supporters, Russian rivals, French locals and the police in Marseille.

Many fans have been left bloodied and injured, with some requiring hospital treatment and others arrested for their involvement in it all.

There was also fighting inside the stadium last night and that could explain why UEFA have waded into it all.

It’s all expected to calm in the city of Marseille as thousands of England and Russia fans leave following their country’s 1-1 draw last night.

But UEFA have made their move for peace by threatening both teams with disqualification from the tournament if their fans don’t behave.

AP’s global football writer Rob Harris revealed on Twitter:

It would be a bold move from UEFA if they were to decide on such an extreme punishment for both countries as a result of the violence.

There is, of course, no place for the trouble fans are experiencing off the pitch, but it’s worth noting that those causing issue are in the minority.
