Just over one week ago, a strong showing at the University of Illinois’ Satellite Camp at Gately Stadium earned St. Rita outside linebacker Marc Mondesir strong interest among coaches and staff. Marc Mondesir’s performance at Sunday’s Showcase Camp in Champaign sealed the deal for head coach Lovie Smith, as the senior was offered a scholarship following the camp, and verbally committed to the Illini just hours later on Twitter.

Mondesir was an unheralded prospect who’s recruitment stalled until his first offer came from Northern Illinois on Friday. Offers from Wyoming and Illinois State trickled in following his appearance at Lake Forest College’s Football Camp on Friday.
The 6’2,” 210-pound Mondesir ran consecutive times of 4.5-second in the 40-yard dash, according to reporters at both the satellite camp and showcase camp.

This was the second commitment Illinois received on Sunday, as just hours before, three-star Rockford offensive lineman Vederian Lowe, the fourth-overall guard in the state pledged to Illinois following the four-hour Big Man Camp in Champaign. As noted by Jeremy Werner of IlliniInquirer.com, Lovie Smith has already racked up five in-state commitments in just two months.
