Joey Barton Tears Stan Collymore Apart For His Coverage of Lille Fighting

Joey Barton hasn’t held back in poking fun at Stan Collymore over his coverage of fans fighting in Lille today.

The English midfielder is no stranger to arguing on Twitter – something Collymore knows a thing or two about as well.

They’ve clashed before, with Collymore ribbing Barton over his move to Rangers last month and the pair then going head to head on talkSPORT last week.

Now the new Ibrox man has got his next chance to slam the former Liverpool, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest attacker over his coverage of the Lille fighting.

Euro 2016 has been marred by fighting between English fans, Russian supporters and French police – with both England and Russia warned over the future conduct of their support.

After things calming down in recent days, there were clashes in Lille today as police reportedly fired tear gas at Russian supporters as they approached some English rivals.

Collymore is in the city and has been out reporting on it through his Twitter account and Periscope.

But he’s also been taking some stick for getting too close to the situation and for shouting ‘journaliste’ as he pleaded with police not to tear gas him.

Barton has been among those to give him stick, penning a number of tweets about Collymore:

Collymore obviously saw Barton’s tweets and hit back with one of his own:

But Barton quickly got the upper hand – getting sarcastic on Collymore’s reply:

Now Barton is a Rangers player – and Collymore has publicly backed Celtic in the past – we doubt this will be the last time the pair clash.
