The Championship club are on the hunt for a new head coach following the sacking of Steve Evans yesterday – the sixth man eccentric owner Massimo Cellino has shown the door in less than three years in charge.
Regardless of how popular Evans was or wasn’t at Elland Road, yet another sacking would normally bring about a sense of indignation amongst supporters but as soon as Monk was linked with the post, everyone calmed down.
According to Sky Sports, Monk is the leading candidate – and interested in taking the job – having been sacked by Swansea last December.
In his only full season as a manager, Monk led the Swans to an impressive eighth-place finish in the Premier League, and his dismissal was seen as harsh at the time.
It seems there’s A LOT of Leeds fans out there right now with their fingers crossed a deal can be done:
If we got Gary Monk earlier we would of easily gone past 15k season tickets!
