Leo Messi Reveals What He Considers His Best-Ever Goal For Barcelona

Leo Messi is unquestionably one of the greatest footballers to ever pull on a pair of boots, and now the diminutive Argentine has revealed what he considers to be his best-ever Barcelona goal.

To be fair, there’s more than a few to choose from. After all, he’s scored an eye-watering 464 goals for the Catalan club since making his debut more than a decade ago.

But which strike stands out above all the others? Which does he hold closest to his heart?

Is it the memorable darting run against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final? Or is it the sublime twist and turn against Bayern Munich in the 2015 Champions League semi-final?

Well, it’s neither of those, and the winner might surprise you.

Speaking during an exclusive interview on team-mate Neymar’s website, Messi plumped for a strike against English opposition back in 2009.

He said: “I always say that I consider the importance of the goal, more than for its beauty and so mine would be the first I scored in a Champions League final, with a header (against Manchester United in 2009), for the importance it had.”

That goal put Barcelona 2-0 up against United on the night, and effectively sealed the Catalan club the trophy – Messi’s first major European trophy.

Don’t get us wrong – it’s a brilliant goal, and very important. But is it really his best? What do you think?
