Liverpool Legend John Arne Riise Says He Wants Portugal to Lose “Just Because of Pepe”

Portugal are on the brink of a shock result this evening in their Euro 2016 Group F opener against Iceland with the score currently tied at 1-1 at time of writing.

Cristiano Ronaldo and co dominated the first half in Saint-Etienne this evening and took the lead through former Manchester United winger Nani towards the end of the first half.

However, some woeful defending from Fernando Santos’ side allowed the Scandinavian side to get back into it with Birkir Bjarnason smashing home to level for his country.

It would be a shock to see a side boasting the likes of Ronaldo, Renato, Nani and Pepe go down to the minnows of Iceland but it seems some former professionals would like nothing more than that to happen.

Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise – who announced his retirement from the game this week – has taken to Twitter to state that he wants his fellow Scandinavians to win “just because of Pepe”.

We might not speak for everyone but we can’t help siding with the Norwegian on that one.
