Matt Le Tissier Takes Stick From Everton Fans Over Ronald Koeman Comments

Matt Le Tissier has been taking some stick from Everton fans this afternoon after criticising Ronald Koeman‘s move to Goodison Park.

The Southampton manager has been heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool to replace Roberto Martinez – with skysports.com reporting that he’s in talks with the Toffees.

But some don’t understand why he’s deciding to move from a team which finished sixth last season to one which ended up 16 points off in 11th.

Le Tissier subscribes to the same thinking – but instead chose to focus on Southampton coping with the loss of Mauricio Pochettino two years ago as evidence that they could do the same if Koeman went.

And he had a little dig at Everton too with his hashtag at the end of his first tweet on the subject:

Everton fans were quick to see the view of Southampton’s greatest ever player and some decided to criticise him and his career.

Le Tissier soon found himself defending the full career he spent with the Saints.

Responding to this tweet from an Everton fan: “hes going to a massive in Everton, Southampton are a small club with no ambition, money or fanbase! #fact (sic)”

Some did jump to Le Tissier’s defence for ignoring the advances of several top clubs to stay at Southampton during his career.

But more stick came his way:

He did sum up the whole discussion over Koeman quite well with this tweet:

It must be said that Koeman hasn’t moved yet and could still start next season as Southampton manager – rendering all this discussion and fall-out meaningless.

But it does beg the question – would Koeman be making the right move?
