The English defender is currently without a club after being released by English Championship outfit QPR.
He’s spent the last six years at Loftus Road, making 185 appearances while helping the club to promotion to the Premier League on two occasions.
Hill also includes spells at Tranmere, Oldham, Stoke, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest on his CV.
But he’s 37 and is undoubtedly approaching the last few years of his career.
A report from thescottishsun.co.uk says Mark Warburton wants to tie Hill up on a one-year contract in a bid to strengthen his defensive options going into the new Scottish season.
Rangers only have Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan as centre back options and Hill would immediately challenge for a starting spot with those two.
He’s got plenty of experience and shown he can cope in the English Premier League on the three occasions he’s had to play there.
But his age appears to be an issue for some Rangers fans who believe they should be targeting younger options who can offer pace at the back.
The reaction really is split, with some supporters thinking it’s a good idea while others believe it’s bad.
Here’s the positive Twitter reaction first:
And now for the negative – with many joking they’d rather Clint Eastwood, Benny Hill or Harry Hill over Clint Hill:
Rangers fans – what’s your view on signing Hill?
