Video: Did Gerard Pique Give the Middle Finger During Spain’s National Anthem?

Gerard Pique has sparked an unexpected debate on social media this evening – over whether or not he gave the middle finger during Spain‘s national anthem.

Lining-up for his country before the Euro 2016 group match against Croatia in Bordeaux, Pique stood silently during the anthem, with his arms draped around team-mates on either side of him.

As he stared stoically into the distance, the Barcelona defender appeared to flash his middle finger as the cameraman rushed past him.

Don’t take our word for it; decide for yourself:

It’s difficult to say for certain if he Pique means it, but he definitely raises his middle finger just as he’s on screen.

Of course, despite playing for Spain, Pique has strong links to Catalonia, and is a known supporter of the region’s campaign for independence.

Or, could his gesture be directed at Sergio Ramos, who is standing directly to his right? They might be international colleagues, but we all know the Real Madrid/Barcelona rivalry runs deep.

Or, perhaps most likely, maybe Pique was just sick and tired of attention from a nosy cameraman. Who knows, eh?

What do you think is going on?
