Guardiola on Signing Messi For Man City: “He’s Not a Bad Player, This Guy”

Pep Guardiola has given his first interview as Manchester City manager, and talked through his plans and ambitions for the club – as well as signing Leo Messi.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager was introduced to supporters at the club’s Etihad stadium this afternoon, where he met with supporters and answered questions about his forthcoming first season in the Premier League.

And the topic of conversation soon swayed towards his protege at Barca, Leo Messi.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been linked with a move to City on and off ever since Guardiola’s appointment was announced last year, but it’s hard to imagine him ever leaving the Catalan giants.

And whilst Guardiola acknowledged it’s unlikely the Argentine superstar will be joining him any time soon, he gave a rather guarded take on the 29-year-old stunning abilities:

Guardiola also spoke about what he expects from his new group of players, giving a subtle warning to the array of highly-paid stars he’ll be coaching:
