Man Utd Drop Squad Number Hint For Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Manchester United appear to have dropped a hint over the squad numbers that new signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will wear for the forthcoming Premier League season.

The pair are United’s big summer captures, with the club forking out £30 million for centre-back Bailly, and around £26 million for the Armenia captain Mkhitaryan.

Understandably, fans will be eager to know which numbers will plastered across their backs when they take to the field for the opening fixture of the season, against Leicester City in the Community Shield on August 7.

And it looks like eagle-eyed fans might have spotted a little hint, with both taking in their first full training session with new manager Jose Mourinho today.

Cameras were on-hand at United’s Carrington training complex, and photographs show Bailly wearing number 6, and Mkhitaryan wearing number 22.

The number 6 shirt was last worn by Jonny Evans, who departed for West Brom last summer, and 22 was last worn by Nick Powell, who was released at the end of last season.

The United Twitter account preaches caution, insisting that the numbers are not final, but with both shirts vacant, it would make a lot of sense.
