Robin van Persie looks like he could be on the brink of a shock return to the Premier League with newly promoted Middlesbrough and fans are struggling to believe the deal is happening.
The Dutch striker has been with Turkish giants Fenerbahce for the last year, after departing Manchester United last summer in a cut-price move.
But reports continue to circulate suggesting that van Persie is keen on a move back to England, with Crystal Palace, West Ham, Leicester and even his former club Arsenal all linked with a deal for the 32-year-old.
However, earlier today, Middlesbrough emerged as front runners for his signature, after reports that a transfer was imminent – and even rumours on social media that van Persie had been shown around the club’s training ground on Tuesday.
