Earlier this week, we told you how the Nigerian centre-back had been linked with a shock £1.5 million move to the Bundesliga side – and fans seemed pretty delighted to be seeing the back of him.
After a bright start to life at Celtic, Ambrose started making regular mistakes and costing his club points, and it was generally thought that he would be surplus to requirements under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
But reacting to the rumours his own departure earlier today, Ambrose seemed none the wiser, and it certainly sounds like he has no plans to leave Glasgow any time soon.
He told African news outlet OwngoalNigeria, via Football411: “I am not aware of the move, I read about it in the papers like most of you, but God is in control, he has the final say on everything about my life.”
Ambrose also went on to mention that he is bearing no grudge about Celtic’s refusal to let him play for his country in the Olympic Games next month, adding: “It’s always a thing of joy for me when am called up to represent my country, so you can understand why the Celtic refusal affected me negatively, but then as a professional one has to learn to accept what you can’t change.”
Oh well. There’s still a long way to go in the summer transfer window, so perhaps someone might still come in for Ambrose, but it certainly sounds like he doesn’t have any serious options at the moment.
Is he really that bad?
