The Hoops full-back said goodbye to the club and fans at the end of last campaign as he prepared to move elsewhere in the summer.
But the arrival of Rodgers has changed his plans – with the Honduran defender returning to the club for pre-season and appearing keen to prove he has something to offer the new manager.
Kieran Tierney was Celtic’s number one left-back last season and his performances led him to becoming one of Ronny Deila’s star players.
So it looks unlikely that Izaguirre could do anything to change that in his final year contracted to the Glasgow club.
Nutmegging Rodgers probably isn’t the right way of going about it too.
The Northern Irish manager joined in with his players during some possession training in Slovenia this morning and the club’s Snapchat account (celticfc) caught the full-back almost embarrass his boss:
To be fair to Izaguirre, if he’s pulled that off Rodgers would probably have laughed it off. And we’d all have found it funny.
Celtic are continuing their training in Slovenia ahead of their friendlies with Olimpija Ljubljana and Maribor this week.
They’ve already faced NK Celje and Sturm Graz so far on the tour, drawing with the former 2-2 before beating the latter 1-0 thanks to Ryan Christie’s goal.
