Chris Sutton Picks Premiership Team of Week.. Ignores Kolo Toure, Joey Barton and Marvin Johnson

Chris Sutton left Kolo ToureJoey Barton and Marvin Johnson out of his first Scottish Premiership Team of the Week this season.

The BT Sport pundit shared his team earlier this morning following a great opening weekend of the SPFL campaign.

As expected, Hamilton were represented well following their 1-1 draw with Rangers at Ibrox, while Celtic pair Scott Brown and Scott Sinclair got spots after helping their team to a 2-1 win over Hearts yesterday.

Steven Anderson made it in after St Johnstone’s 0-0 draw with Aberdeen, joining Stevie Smith, Chris Erskine, Rory Loy and Scott McDonald – who all had great performances at the weekend:

But the team is also missing some big players – with Premiership newcomers Toure and Barton both ignored despite impressing at the weekend.

Toure was a standout as Celtic held off a spirited Hearts team to leave Tynecastle with three points on Sunday.

Just a day before, Barton made his top-flight bow for Rangers, earning the Sky Sports man of the match despite failing to help his side to victory.

Motherwell winger Marvin Johnson was also shunned despite inspiring his side to a hard-fought 2-1 win away at Kilmarnock.

Sutton has received some stick for his selections, but attempted to defend them in later tweets:

What’s your view – did Sutton leave out anyone of note?
