Christian Benteke today sealed his £27 million move to Crystal Palace following a disastrous year at Liverpool, however, he still thanked fans for his time at the club.
The Belgian joined Alan Pardew’s side as their record signing today after finding himself falling even further behind the pecking order at Anfield with Sadio Mane joining from Southampton and Danny Ings returning from injury.
Benteke joined Liverpool in the summer of 2015 while Brendan Rodgers was still manager for a whopping £32 million but failed to hit the ground running as he only managed 9 goals in 29 appearances while failing to find himself as a regular under Jurgen Klopp.
But any chances he was hoping to get on Merseyside this evening are well and truely gone following his move to Palace this morning and Benteke thanked the ‘amazing supporters’ who were there for him during the hard moments last season.
The forward posted the below message to his Instagram account where he added that it was a pleasure playing for ‘an amazing club like Liverpool’ and an experience he will never forget.
