Jim Furyk is the toast of golf this evening, after setting a PGA record by shooting the lowest score in the history of the tour at the Travelers Championship.
The 46-year-old American hit a total of 10 birdies and an eagle to shoot a 12-under-par round, to finish on 58 at the event on Connecticut.
Furyk already had a 59 on his CV, and was one of six men to shoot a sub-60 total across 18 holes, but has gone one better to set the outright record himself.
Despite his incredible record-breaking round Furyk is not really in contention to win the tournament, as he remains four behind leader Daniel Berger, before he starts his final round.
But regardless of whether or not he’s lifting the trophy, Furyk will be stealing all of the headlines, and he’s certainly winning a lot of plaudits from fans on social media:

Jim Furyk shot a 58 today! I've done that once or twice but the rest of my foursome was upset I didn't finish the final 6 holes…
