The Reds had started the season so well too, beating Arsenal 4-3 in a very entertaining encounter at the Emirates on the opening weekend of the season.
Some suggested Jurgen Klopp’s men could even be title contenders come next May following that strong performance.
But they won’t be suggesting that now after a first-half horror show away at Turf Moor.
Burnley got their lead after two minutes through Sam Vokes’ goal and the Clarets doubled that 37 minutes when Andre Gray slammed the ball home.
Some are definitely enjoying Liverpool going into the break losing, while others really can’t believe they can follow up such a good performance last week with such a poor one today.
But it’s clear the scoreline so far is generating discussion on Twitter this afternoon:
If Burnley were to hold on and get the win, it would be their first of the season after losing 1-0 to Swansea on the opening day of the campaign last weekend.
