Martyn Waghorn Hopes Injury isn’t Too Serious.. Thanks Fans

Martyn Waghorn hopes the injury which forced him off in Rangers‘ opening Premiership game of the season against Hamilton earlier this afternoon isn’t too serious.

The English striker got on the scoresheet in the 1-1 draw at Ibrox, bit had to be substituted closer to the end of the match as he went down with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

As is the case with hamstring issues, it’s always feared that players could be ruled out for a lengthy period of time and that’s something Rangers won’t be wanting considering how important Waghorn is and the lack of striker options at Mark Warburton’s disposal.

While it’s probably too serious to say what the extent of the hitman’s injury is, he’s taken to Twitter to thank fans for all their messages and provide a little update:

It wasn’t the start to their league campaign that Rangers fans would have been wanting following promotion from the Championship at the end of last term.

Warburton’s men will be expecting to rival Celtic for the Premiership title, but today’s draw means the Hoops could get a two-point advantage on them after just one game if they beat Hearts tomorrow.

And Waghorn’s injury just adds to the disappointment of making a drawing start to life in the top-flight.
